Before classes start

Attend benefits orientation
At the beginning of the semester, your school may hold a benefits orientation to help students learn how their health insurance works and where to access care. Ask your advisor if/when the orientation is taking place and plan to attend as your schedule allows.
Log in to your LewerMark student account

Download your insurance ID card
Visit your school’s webpage at lewermark.com to view your insurance plan benefits, find a doctor, and more. From there, you can also access and download your health insurance ID card. You will need to present this card to receive medical care or purchase prescriptions at the pharmacy, so you should have it with you at all times.

Ensure you are up to date on all vaccines
When studying in the U.S., you must remain up to date on all vaccines required in the Immunization Schedule by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Your LewerMark health insurance plan helps pay for the vaccines using its Wellness Benefit. Log in to your student account to review your plan details and learn how much this benefit covers.
You can get your vaccines at in-network pharmacies, CVS MinuteClinic locations, and your doctor’s office. If your school has a student health center, it may also administer vaccines.
Locate your student health center (if applicable) and other medical facilities
- Find out from your advisor if your school has a student health center. It will be on campus and is always your closest option for care. Most student health centers accept insurance and can help with things like health screenings, treating minor illnesses and injuries, vaccinations, and more.
- CVS MinuteClinic locations are in-network with your insurance and can be found around the U.S. The providers at MinuteClinic can also provide health screenings, give vaccines, and treat minor illnesses and injuries.
- If you need care after business hours (i.e., in the evening or on weekends) but do not feel it is an emergency, you can either get care virtually through Teladoc or go to your nearest urgent care facility.
- Teladoc is a service that allows you to receive medical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from your phone or computer, at no cost to students. Set up your account to get started.
- In-network urgent care facilities can be found using the Aetna Find a Provider tool.
- In the event of a medical emergency, visit your closest hospital (also called emergency rooms). This is where you should go when you have a major illness or injury, have been in an accident, or are experiencing shortness of breath or chest pain. Locate the nearest in-network hospital and write down the name and address, so you are prepared in the event of an emergency.
- It is also a good idea to know the phone number and address of your community’s health department in the event there is a public health crisis. Use a search engine and look up your community’s name + health department.
Find an in-network doctor
Your health insurance plan uses the Aetna network. Using the Find a Provider tool, input your location and set a search radius to find in-network doctors and specialists closest to you.
Find your nearest pharmacy and get medications filled
Your insurance uses MedImpact as its pharmacy benefits manager. You can use it to find local pharmacies, check the prices of your medications, set up reminders to refill your medications, and more.

Throughout the school year
Schedule a preventative care visit
Be proactive with your health by scheduling a preventative care visit with your in-network doctor. These visits help your doctor identify potential health issues early and prevent them from becoming worse.
During a preventative care visit, your doctor will likely ask you questions about your personal and family health history and check your pulse, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, and temperature. They may also refer you for additional screening to rule out issues like diabetes or cancer.
Eligible preventative care is covered under your insurance plan’s Wellness Benefit, up to the maximum dollar amount. Refer to your insurance plan summary in your student account to find that information.
Get medical care from anywhere through Teladoc
Remember that you can use Teladoc for virtual medical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from your phone or computer, and it is free for students.
Access mental health care and resources
It can be stressful to adjust to going to school far from home. Get mental health support when you need it and take care of your wellbeing. Your insurance provides access to mental health services from the privacy of your home or wherever you need assistance.
- Teladoc mental health connects you with experienced professionals who can help you through how you may be feeling and can prescribe medication to support your care, if necessary. There is no limit to the number of mental health visits for students, and the service is provided at no additional cost through the Teladoc app.
- Togetherall is an anonymous, online peer community where you can talk to others who understand what you are going through. Listen, and be heard.
